pic-a-day.co.uk

I have decided to move my blog to its own site to give me more control & give you bigger pictures to look at. Over the next few days, I will be uploading some of the better pics from here up to the new site so people can see what I have done in the past.

Please pop across to http://www.pic-a-day.co.uk/ to have a look at the new site. Please remember to leave comments to encourage me to take more (or point out my mistakes)

This page will stay up for a while (until I get bored with it) but will not be updated any more, so please update your links/favourites etc.

Thanks

-Neil

Sunset over the A30
- I pulled up at the traffic lights the other night & saw this out of my window, so snapped it before the lights changed.

Industrial Night
- Also found this Industrial Estate while I was out, so stopped for a few pics, may go back & see if I can get some better shots, this was taken from outside the site looking in.

Night Moves
- While out storm-chasing last night, I decided to strap the tripod down & take some long exposures as I was driving along (obviously not taking my hands from the steering wheel!!) Shame my windscreen was dirty!!

Flower
- I have no idea what this one is, but I liked the look of it!

Dandy Lion
- With his mane bright yellow!!

Vespa II
- The headlamp this time

Vespa I
- Saw the Vespa on my way back from the shop & took a couple of close-up shots

Josh II
- This shot was a bit out of focus, but some selective sharpening around the eyes hides that quite well

Josh
- This lovely dog had 3 different balls to play with but could only hold 2 in his mouth at a time, so was trying to juggle them so no-one else could play with them!!

Dragonfly II
- I took loads of photos, but the shallow depth of field I had to use due to the lighting conditions played havoc with my success rate. I love the colour of this one & the light background helps show up the details on the legs & thorax.

Dragonfly I
- I've always wanted to get a photo of a dragonfly, so was lucky when I found a few around the local lakes.

Robin
- One of my favourite birds, they don't seem to mind humans too much either.

Cygnet
- This fluffy looking cygnet will one day become a magnificent swan!

Family Day Out
- The kids were feeding the ducks on the Thames on Saturday when this family of swans decided to pass by, completely uninterested in the bread in the water.

Daisy, Daisy
- ...Give me your answer do!

Mother to Child
- These daisies just looked to me like a mother talking to her child

Evening by the Lake
-The little Tern stayed on his post as I left and, as I turned around, I saw the sun's reflection in the water & had to grab this lovely sillhouette!

One Good Tern
- A Common Tern, I believe (I'm no ornithologist). He allowed me to get quite close, although I did have to move VERY slowly and he did complain about it a few times, but stood his ground thankfully.

Incey Wincey
- Again, around the local lakes the other evening, I found this charming fellow amongst the daisies.

Wabbit
- Was wandering around the local lakes & spotted this little chap. Normally they run a mile at the first sign of movement, but I managed to get quite close this time (until a dog appeared on the scene)

Night Traffic part 2
- This time I remembered the tripod! This one is of the M3 at about 10pm and a longer exposure

Night Traffic
- On my way home last night, I crossed over the M25, found a spot to park, then took loads of pics of the moving traffic. It was getting a bit cold & not having a tripod was causing me problems, but I think I managed to bag a good shot.

Squirrel II
- I think I must have made a bit of a noise as he got a little nervous, grabbed his crust in his teeth and, moments later, ran up the tree to a safer spot

Squirrel I
- While out looking for things to photograph, this cheeky chappie caught my attention. Fortunately, I had my long lens with me & he seemed to be quite comfortable with me being there as long as I didn't make any sudden moves.

Flower V
- Last one of the 'bunch'!

Flower IV
- I wish I knew the names of all of these flowers, I could give a much better description!

Flower III
- A white one this time

Flower II
- I like the way the colour really stands out against the dark background

Flower I
- Wandering around campus, it's incredible how many wonderful flowers are around at the moment

Bee
- Unfortunately this is a little soft, but I love the image, so thought I'd post it anyway!

Fly in the Sky
- Had some real fun photographing this little hover fly, he would hover, almost motionless a few inches above my camera waiting for me to take his picture!!

Blue Sunset
- Taken from Gummers How, looking over Windermere.

Another House
- Can't remember where this one was

Tree at Grasmere
- Taken with my trusty Sony P120, just liked the sun coming through the branches, the shadows & the texture of the ground

My Favourite
- This was definitely my favourite picture of the week.

Daffodils & Clouds
- Still the dark clouds really set off the daffodils on the side of the road

Day 4 - Lake District Weather
- On the last day, the weather really wasn't being kind

Sunset over Windermere II
- And another one

Sunset over Windermere I
- After the trip back from Buttermere, I managed to grab a couple of pics of the sun going down

Tuesday, April 19, 2005

Little House on the Side of a Mountain
- I grabbed this shot on the way back from Buttermere

Trees in a Valley
- I loved the way the light picked out the trees, I don't think the photo manages to capture it as I would have hoped

Little White House on the Lake
- Again, at Buttermere

Buttermere
- A lovely lake, but I got there too late in the day and the sun was disappearing behind a peak (and as the journey to it was quite tricky I didn't want to stay too long in case I had to get back in the dark

View from Honister Pass
- One steep, narrow road ran through Honister Pass from Borrowdale to Buttermere, this was taken about half way through. I stopped the car, turned off the engine and all I could hear was birdsong!

Derwent Water
- The ducks kept preening and, as it was a long exposure, I had several shots of ducks with blurry heads, this was the best of the bunch!

Landing Stage II
- A different angle of the same stage

Landing Stage I
- At Derwent Water on my way from Keswick to Borrowdale. Had to wait for the ferry to leave!!

Trees
- At Thirlmere
